Late Dr. Ramesh Chaube was born on 30 July 1943 in a reputed Brahmin family in Khurai, a small tehsil of Sagar (Madhya Pradesh). His father Late Shri. Shiv Prasad Choubey, was well known lawyer by profession in Khurai and lived together in joint family. His mother Late Smt. Savitri Devi was simple and soft-spoken homemaker. He was the first child to the parents and was born after 13 years of marriage.
He had three siblings, a younger sister and two younger brothers. Immediate younger sibling is sister Smt. Rajkumari Tiwari currently residing in village Biharpura near Sagar, happily living with her son and enjoying times with grandchildren’s. Second sibling is younger brother Shri Om Prakash Choubey currently a famous lawyer in Khurai by profession and the youngest brother is Shri Mukesh Choubey, respectfully retired from the post of DSP MP Police Administrative Service and is residing in Vidisha (MP) enjoying retired life with his family.
Dr. Chaube since childhood was very creative, organized, disciplined and committed. He developed interest in drawing, painting and created lot of impressive canvas. He was also keen in developing technical skills. He used to be good sports person and his favorite sport was Hockey & Volley Ball. His hobbies included writing poems, short stories and photography. Being the eldest in the family he remained supportive and committed to his family.
Dr. Ramesh Chaube started his elementary education from Khurai, Distt. Sagar MP and completed his Matriculation and Higher Secondary education from Mahakaushal Board Jabalpur in 1959. He went to Jabalpur for his graduation from Science and successfully passed B.Sc. Degree from Robertson College Jabalpur University in 1965. For his post-graduation M.Sc. he opted subject Anthropology and completed in 1967 from Sagar University, Sagar. Being a child from advocacy background, Chaube ji made up his mind to study law and completed his LLB in 1968. His zest for education did not stopped here and decided to pursue Ph.D. in Anthropology under supervision of Sir Dr.R.S.Bali and awarded PhD degree in 1972.
During his research work in Anthropology Dr. Chaube met up with Ms.Usha Jha resident of Raipur, who was pursuing Ph.D. from Ancient History & Archeology. He was highly impressed from her and her family. Over the period, they developed congenial relationship. Ms. Usha was successfully awarded PhD Degree in 1969. Later they got married on 14 December 1972 from Jabalpur. They were bless with two children Rituparna Chaturvedi (Son) and Ruchi Chaube (daughter).
Dr. Chaube was a true family man, he was very particular of good education for his children and ensured they become self-dependent to face the challenges of life. Both of his children got married in 2004. Daughter Ruchi Chaube is married to Shri Yogesh Katare from a educated and modest family, Son Rituparna is married to Ku. Shefali Chaturvedi from a respected & well-cultured family. He retired from service on 31 July 2005.
Post retirement Chaube couple were extremely delighted with the birth of their grand daughter Ritisha Chaturvedi on April 11, 2006, year after their daughter shared good news of arrival of their grandson Raman Katare who was born on November 6, 2007. To accomplish his dreams he started working as lawyer in 2008.
Chaube couple were enjoying the peaceful, settled life and they were over joyous with the arrival of their grandson Rishi Chaturvedi who was born on 24 March 2012. Dr. Chaube was very happy to see the entire family and especially the young ones.
Dr. Chaube made a lot of progress in the field of education, brought laurels to the country and his native. He earned lot of respect and appreciation throughout life.
He left the world on 28 November 2014 due to a heart attack.
Dr. Chaube took several personal and professional initiatives in his life. Against many socio-conventional practices he believed and firmly practiced the realist approach like promoting women education, against bribe/dowry system etc. He supported student learning by establishing Anthropology Department Museum, Lecture & Seminar hall and dedicated Photography division and several dedicated setup. Dr. Chaube lived his complete life with self-respect keeping the ethics all-time high, maintained dignity of his position, always lived with positive thoughts and kept practicing to spread awareness about education in the society.
Mrs. Usha Chaube: ‘A woman of substance’ a housemaker contributed a lot behind the growth and hard work of Dr Ramesh Chaube. She was Ph.D. in ancient history of 1969 was offered many jobs by many colleges & universities but she treated education more of values rather career and decided to take care of her family. She believed education is right path to understand culture and values. Her contribution of providing a solid foundation for a well-cultured family cannot be forgettable. She was consistent providing guidance to family for livelihood in stable society by encouraging, showing her confidence. She inculcated positive qualities in children, which once imbibed, inevitably become part of their nature. Mrs. Chaube was inspirational personality for society. She was dynamic, modern, and adaptive for changes. She managed to deal with all challenges and has proved true the saying that “Behind every successful man there is a woman." She is always be loved by family.
